Cascais Where Lisbon Goes to Breathe

Cascais Where Lisbon Goes to Breathe

Cascais is thirty minutes from Lisbon by train along the Tagus and then the Atlantic coast. A former fishing village turned royal resort with the Boca do Inferno sea cave. Praia do Guincho beyond is the wild beach. Cabo da Roca -- continental Europe's westernmost point -- is a fifteen-minute drive further.

Practical notes: Train from Cais do Sodre every 20 minutes. Cascais is walkable; Guincho needs a bus.
