Bairro Alto and Cais do Sodré Carry Lisbon's Night
Lisbon nightlife starts late and ends later. Bairro Alto — the tangle of pedestrian streets above Chiado — is the drinks-on-the-sidewalk district, where small bars stay open into the pre-dawn and the crowd spills into the streets. Pensão Amor in Cais do Sodré is the old bordello turned burlesque-cocktail-bar.
Cais do Sodré along Rua Nova do Carvalho (the "Pink Street") is the dance-club corridor. Musicbox is the longtime electronic room; Lux Frágil along the river is the big-room Lisbon club with international booking.
Bars stay open until 4 AM routinely, clubs until 6 AM on weekends. The Metro stops at 1 AM but Uber is reliable. Portuguese nightlife is patient — arrive at a club at midnight and it's still warming up.
